Congrats to Matthew
Matthew won first place in the College round of the Three Minute Thesis Competition and went on to win the People’s Choice Award at the University level with his talk “Cellular Grand Theft Auto”, which he describes in a blog post here. The lab went out to celebrate!

Allyson gave a talk on a new role for Rab11B in the entry of current H3N2 isolates, while Sara gave a flash talk and poster on the role of Rab25 in IAV infection!

Congratulations to Hannah Despres who walked in the December graduation ceremony and received her PhD hood!
DUR for Allyson
Congratulations to Allyson Turner who defended their Honor’s College/Distinguished Undergraduate Research project! We celebrated with cake from Mirabelles, in conjunction with Lily Kjendal from the Majumdar lab who also successfully defended her HCol/DUR thesis!

The lab decided to tie-dye our tissue culture lab coats, while enjoying tea and crepes (very civilized!)

Congratulations to Hannah Despres who successfully defended her PhD thesis, “Characterization of SARS-CoV-2 Variants of Concern at Multiple Scales”. Many Mirabelles cakes were consumed, as befitted the occasion!!

ASV 2024
Allyson, Hannah D and Hannah K all made it to ASV 2024 in Cleveland where Hannah D presented a poster on influenza filaments and Hannah K gave a great talk on SARS-CoV-2 nucleocapsid oligomerization.
